Is H2O the same as the symbol for water?

Yes, H2O is the symbol for water. Technically, the 2 is subscripted. The 2 stands for 2 parts Hydrogen, and the O stands for 1 part oxygen. Together, the 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Oxygen make water, or H2O. To make the 2 subscript when using Microsoft Word, simply highlight the number and press ctrl and the =/+ button at the same time. Yes

H20 actually stands for Dihydrogen Monoxide. Water is a derivative of it.

It means water but its just an improper way of writing it

H?O in a gaseous mixture google Browns Gas

when someone write H2O they don't want to spend the time creating a subscript 2...

aka it's the same thing as H?O

it's improper....but it's difficult to write things properly using a computer

Yes. it is the chemical name of water.

:)

I am seeing and explanation for the byproducts of combustion. I am used to seeing water symbolized as an uppercase H, lower exponential 2, and uppercase O. Are these one in the same or not? Please explain.
