One indicator would be soda bottles which is the current most recyclable plastic. Coca-Cola pledged to increase the use of recycled materials in their bottles, after much research, they were able to increase it to 2%. It's really down cycling not recycling and there really isn't much of it despite the popularity of single stream curbside recycling pick up where the homeowner pays a monthly fee for the pickup of recyclables.

if you're in uk find your local centre and visit virtually or in person. you will also find that containers often in rows by carparks will be labelled as will rubbish bins by bus stops etc. then there are charity stores who accept donations of unwanted.
