Can I recycle guitar strings in my recycling bin?

Recycling centers recycle ONLY what they say they will recycle. Typically that's glass (which must be color-sorted in some cases), recyclable plastics, and aluminum and steel food containers--as well as paper.

Everything else---batteries, fluorescent lights, paint, garden chemicals, etc. must be disposed of in a different manner.

Guitar strings probably aren't considered recyclable because the heavier gauge strings often consist of bronze or nickel wound over steel. Plus the strings themselves are not bulky enough for recycling purposes.

There are some people who make jewelry from recycled guitar strings and may even pay you. Look around online. There is one sample site below.

Yes because recycling by the garbage company is a sham. Everything goes to the land fill, EVERYTHING!

No, they would wrap around the rollers and stall the recycling plant till they could untangle them.

NO, BUT THEY HAVE SPECIAL PLACES TO RECYCLE THEM
