How can we make Britain more diverse and multicultural?

Your teacher is naive. Britain is already one of the most culturally diverse and tolerant countries in the world.

No 1 and no 2 are contradictory. If we need more tolerance, then surely we should expect other cultures to be tolerant too?

No 2 would mean forcing all women to wear a hijab, barring girls from learning to swim etc to avoid offending Muslims. Banning pork and beef and not allowing the stunning of animals before slaughter. These are a few examples, I am sure you can find many more. Do we ban Christmas in case it offends Jews? Do we ban all religious displays to avoid offending atheists? (I am one).

No 1 we need to avoid. There is too much of this already, It prevents us from deporting criminals.

No 6 joining the euro is completely different. It should be considered only if it would be economically beneficial to the country and never as a gesture of solidarity with Europe.

I have lived abroad and I accepted that I should act where possible according to the culture there. I believe that if you come to UK to live, you should try to fit in and not expect us all to accommodate you. Yes, we as a nation need to learn about other cultures, but we have no obligation to change ours, which is just as valid as any other.

Britain is allready very diverse especially seeing as nobody who lives in Britain is from Britain they are all from all over the world.

Now dont get me wrong this sounds negative but it is in fact positive the world needs to unite and develop common understandings with each other no matter where we are from skin colour etc.

So in answer to your question celebrate both the differences and similarities between the British community

I do not believe you have such a teacher,

Such views as are being expressed are the path to a non Britain, and I do not want to be part of that.

Society remains strong when it has diversity, of course, but those who come must toe the line as it were and not try to make Britain the very thing that they left

Sounds like your teacher has a political agenda of her own. What she is proposing is a recipe for bending over backwards to accommodate every other culture, while abandoning our own.

"Phasing out anything that might offend", what a short-sighted and irresponsible political philosophy. Doesn't she realise that if society was to adopt this, then every thought, every action, every viewpoint, every right, and every opinion would be subject to censorship by anyone who disagreed.

For example 'people being allowed to drink alcohol offends me' . Under your teacher's proposals, we would have to phase out alcohol. 'Your religion offends me' - 'Oh, all right, sorry, we'll phase it out then. Madness!

We have very good human rights in Britain already, unless you discuss the Romany. Otherwise your school needs re-staffing, preferably with BRITISH teachers!

I agree with the other guy on here, seems like your teacher is trying to promote her political views.

Either that or someone is trolling?

Your teacher is trying to brainwash you. Wake up before it's too late. The majority of people are sick to death of immigrants and this multiculturalism nonsense.

Your teacher is a dangerous extremist.

I am doing a school project on how we can make Britain more multicultural and diverse. My teacher says if Britain leads the world in diversity then it will be something we can all be proud of and it will improve our country and give us more respect in the world. My teacher gave us some ideas to make Britain more diverse but I can't think of any others.

Here's the ones she gave us:

1) More emphasis on tolerance and human rights

2) Respecting other cultures by phasing out anything that might offend

3) More education about other cultures

4) Celebrating other cultures holidays like eid or diwali

5) A public holiday to celebrate our diverse population

6) Maybe joining the euro but this is controversial
