What do you think about the exemptions to Obamacare?

Regardless of the exemtion to the fine, no one will be exempt from having to pay for medical care, if they get sick.

There's a 4th type, that is more common than any of those other three. The "I'm part of a group that supported Obama" exemption. But regardless..

The religion exemption is going to be very problematic and likely won't survive any legal challenge, as it is effectively saying that the state can dictate what is and isn't a valid religious belief. And to top it off, it wouldn't prevent somebody from saying they belonged to such a religion.

Every tax paying citizen ought to just exempt themselves from the boondoggle that is Obama Care after all what's the government going to do? Try to fine me? Good luck with that. Toss me in prison? Good luck with that lol.

Irrelevant. ObamaCare has entered its death throes. Say Buh-Byeeee to it, "liberals". We've already said our goodbyes, so we won't be joining you at the wake.

Broadly speaking there are three main types of exemptions - religious, hardship, and lapse in coverage. If you qualify for these exemptions you don't have to purchase insurance and you don't have to pay the penalty.

The religious exemption applies to anyone who is “conscientiously opposed to accepting any insurance benefits." This conscientious opposition must be well documented. For example, the Amish clearly qualify because they haven't used insurance for generations. This does NOT apply to someone who opposes Obamacare for ideological reasons. There must be a long-held, well-documented opposition to insurance benefits of any kind.

Hardship exemptions include being homeless, being in jail, recently filing for bankruptcy, being a recent victim of domestic violence, or having been evicted in the past six months.

Individuals are also exempt from Obamacare penalties if they experience a lapse in health coverage of less than three months in a calendar year.

Are these exemptions fair as written? Should there be more? Fewer?

I'm trying to make this question as neutral and fact-based as possible. Appreciate the same with the answers.
