No.
Face it, nobody is going to stop using gasoline until electric cars are better developed then what.. you plug it in and wait overnight and that's just not going to work for some people. Use more electricity. The government here at least are really, really touchy about cob homes. The only person I know of that has been able to do this in Washington State was a lawyer.
I do my best because I have no other choice financially and so pretty much most of everything I do relies on my ability to live without money for the most part.
Nobody necessarily NEEDS to stop living, but everyone needs to make an effort to consume less. Or we are f***ed. We just need balance, that's all.
Really what is "green". Are solar photovoltaic panels green when you take into consideration the extreme heat it takes to grow the silicon crystals, the toxins produced and the energy required to mill and solder everything together? Are disposable paper products "green" when paper doesn't biodegrade in anaerobic environments while plastics are the products of natural gas which would be burned if not used ( most natural gas are burned at the well site in flares ) and therefore plastic whether they are recycled or tossed away sequesters the carbon with in them?
What most people think of as being "green" may or may not actually help the environment but it does steer them to marketing groups which can be manipulated to a profit. The only truly green approach is to reduce consumption and that's the one thing that no one wants.
All life forms consume and reproduce till predators, disease or starvation culls them. No species has avoided this. It would take a substantial amount of wisdom and dedication to avoid this but our own values serve against us, we strive to end disease, if there is a predator, we eliminate them, and we value reproduction to the point where people bomb birth control institutions. We do not have the wisdom or the preservation to avoid the third culling that nature has for all life, if we wantto preserve our current value system, we must seek out more resources. There are enough resources in the asteroid belt to support a quadrillion people at first world standards of living so technically the third culling can be deferred indefinitely but we haven't even got the wisdom to do that.
The world will not end but our population could be severely diminished despite our ill considered value system.
People need to use things like energy more efficiently, there is so much wastage.
SUV's should be so heavily taxed, so they do not sell. Then perhaps companies like Ford and GM etc, might get the message to make cars that are as efficient as those sold in Europe and Japan.
Some people (like Republicans) hate government regulations and lobby against them.If they had their way, there would be no food safety laws, no environmental protection laws to stop (say) drinking water being poisoned and no laws about cars being made more efficient, for which the technology exists to do that.
The $$$ signs in front of their eyes need to be shot off for them to take notice.
People want eco-friendly alternatives to the products they've been using. But in many cases, such products are hard or even impossible to find locally. Take, for instance, my recent nemesis, the biodegradable full-sized garbage bag. After a fruitless slog through local retailers, I was forced to search for said bag online - where I did successfully find what I was looking for.
Two green business ideas stem from this experience. One, as a retailer, I would definitely start stocking eco-friendly products. Two, green products would be an excellent theme for an ecommerce website
No it is not possible. In America, we try to go green, but in other countries, the underdeveloped ones most especially, they make very little or no effort to go green. These countries have become heavily industrialized, and have problems feeding their populations. For them to go green would cost them to much in the short take. In the long take they will become so polluted, that they will affect the rest of the world.
No, and when you refer to people you're including everyone around the world. We have to make a change and step up our game.
Yea its possible you just need to start charging them them if they dont and make it part of the law
Yeah right. You stop emitting carbon first. And you know that every breath you take emits carbon dioxide?
The way the earth is going, we will all melt to death within 50 years. And it's because people are using so much fossil fuels, and cutting down trees. Is it possible to get people to stop using gasoline and stop cutting down trees? Because if not, people will cause the end of the world.
