Here's the story. Environmentalists dug down into trash mountains to find out about decomposition of wastes. They found a newspaper from 1950's that was still like new. Then as usual the media picked up the story and made it sound as if all paper ever made is still with us. Hardly the case. Most trash is burned now a days so using paper bag is no problem. I use cloth myself and they are much more sturdy than plastic or paper especially for liters of soda. As to composting paper. A newspaper intact and dry will not support anerobic bacteria and if it is dry and compacted under a ton of garbage it will be preserved. That is why they find out so much about ancient American Tribes from their garbage mounds even 1000's of years later.
Paper is fine (nothing at all is better)
Use cloth bags for your shopping if you can.
extremely tough task. research over google or bing. this will help!
I am currently using paper bags for my trash can, so I usually get them when I buy my groceries instead of plastic. But someone told me that it's worse than using plastic trashbags and cloth shopping bags. So what should I do?
