Room makeover cost?

That sounds like a more than adequate budget. As the other person who responded suggested, get the basics for now and get her involved in the project as a way to bring you two closer. You will want to have a color scheme to start with, but she should have some say in it, since she will have to live with the results. Check out www.colorcombos.com or the HGTV color palettes at www.sherwin-williams.com for ideas. Personally, I like the Coastal Cool palette from Sherwin Williams for both paint and wallpaper. IKEA has great storage and shelving options.

its great that you are doing for her & putting the room together

$1500 seems generous enough, especially to start with. Maybe get the basics and let her pick out the rest. It also depends if you are shopping at places like Walmart & Target or more expensive places.

My daughter just lost her mom so she is coming to live with me, her grandma sold almost all of her stuff that was at her moms so she doesn't have much. We're planning on painting her room, installing new outlets, new dresser, a lot of shelving since we're turning her small closet into an office area. We also want to buy her office supplies, makeup for her makeup area that will be on top of the dresser, and decor.

I asked if she thinks she could work with $1500 since we know the bed & dresser will be $700, I also told her that the money will not be going towards the electrical stuff and paint but she said that might not enough to buy desk supplies, makeup, shelving, decor, exc since stuff is expensive.

How much do you think we should put towards it?
