Water vapor contributes to the greenhouse, but it is non toxic and will precipitate harmlessly.
Americans have an irrational fear of radioactive waste and don't trust their government to secure the facility. Radioactive waste can be safely stored in lead lined underground tombs. But again, people's irrational fear won't allow the waste to be transported through their backyards nor stored there.
Nuclear energy produces absolutely no air pollution, but it does produce radio active waste which we have no effective way to deal with besides burying it in the ground for hundreds of years. It depends on the fossil fuel that you are burning when making a comparison. When comparing to coal burning then all the nuclear accidents that have happened over the years have killed less people than the estimated amount of people who die because of coal burning (burning coal releases particles that can cause lung and respiratory problems when breathed in)
To make a good comparison you have to look at the net energy created and the space taken to create the energy and the environmental effects of mining, transportation, burrying, ect.
I'd rather have nuclear power than coal burning, and if there was a better way to deal with the radio active waste I would prefer it to oil and natural gas too.
we can generate nuclear fuel. it doesn,t have to be mined in the form of uranium ore. a nuc plant has a small land footprint. it produces no greenhouse gases. we will never run out of nuclear fuel. wars won,t be fought over fuel sources. modern 3rd gen nuc plants are safer and simpler than current 2nd gen plants, and 2nd gen safety record is very good. ever see the millions of tons of coal stored outside a coal fired plant? that coal is a major source of pollution before it,s burned! oil and natural gas are non renewable.
No carbon dioxide emissions to cause global warming. No ash leach-ate to pollute the ground water.
-No need to send $ to people that want us dead.

It was brought to my attention that there is another type of energy we could be using that isn't fossil fuel called nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is said to be better than fossil fuel but I'd like to know why.
