Why don't we harness more solar power?

It is expensive to make solar panels and not reliable. Solar Power Stations are not able to produce power at night or cloudy days that's why fossil fuels are more common. Wind power is more reliable but also take lots of land.

In 2007, the effective cost of solar photovoltaic power was 38 cents a kwh while the costs to the utilities for coal power was 0.6 cents per kwh. The utilities sell the power to the end consumer at about 12 cents a kwh. Which energy source do you think would net a profit? Which do you think would net a loss?

Oil is cheap and available, sun panels are costly and sometimes moody. This world revolves around green worthless paper we give valuable to and call 'money', so we are more concerned about collecting these green papers with dead people on them, than the fate of our own earth.

There's quite literally an endless (until the sun goes supernova) supply of sustainable energy illuminating our planet. We have the knowledge and the technology to harness some of that energy. My question is why in the hell don't we invest more interest in the matter?

Hell we could put solar paneling on every rooftop.

It's common knowledge that in the U.S. oil industries among others have been known to have their hand in the pocket of our government. Given the fact that Oil is a multi-trillion dollar industry worldwide It's safe to assume that powerful oil industries have a lot to lose in furthering elimination of oil from our lives.

I hate to support conspiracy theories but I'd bet a pretty penny that some of this crap is going on. What do u all think?
