Who do the US senators represent?

For the same reason they were elected in the first place, and the reason their positions were designed.

They have a responsibility to the larger view, they have all the information, not just the partial snippets the regular people do.

Those suits were filed as an appeasement action, filed by idiots that want the even bigger idiots to see them doing something. It's a political play, it has no meaning except to impress the base level sheep.

There's a reason we aren't a democracy.

Prior to the 17th Amendment, two senators were chosen by each state legislatures to represent the interests of the states in the US congress.

17th Amendment:

"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures. ..."

Before the 17th Amendment, the Constitution determined how senators were selected in Article 1 Section 3 Clause 1:

"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote."

So the question is, since a majority of states (27) filed suit against the federal government to stop ObamaCare and the senators are suppose to represent their states and not Blue Cross and United Healthcare lobbyists, how can the senators from those states vote to stop the defunding of Obamacare without the appearing to be the corrupt political hacks they are?
