May be here in Liverpool they are using common dust bins for recycling,,, But that's a good idea to recycle things....
Just depends on the council of each town/city. For example, in my home town recycling is enforced with different containers and bins for all sorts of materials :)
Often it makes little economic sense except for aluminium and certain other metals. I have heard of places where the people carefully sort their trash into multiple bins, and are unaware that most of it then gets poured together into the same rubbish tip.
Sometimes it's only a political "feel-good" scheme.

I live in Liverpool (L6) and was just wondering why there is no recycling service for the houses on my street. In my previous residence, closer to Warrington, there were separate bins for bottles/paper, yet here there is just a single purple bin? Is this a general feature of many cities or just certain areas in Liverpool??
