Since Republicans started the Progressive Party, do they own it?

the original Progressives wanted to increase the influence that common people has over government, the modern "Progressives" that have hijacked the name want to increase the control that government has over common people. I hope you can see the difference

Progressive Party of 1912 and progressive of today are not the same thing

At one time black man stayed by his wife and kids, the black family was the heart of the black freedom and ended the segregation and Jim crow.

Today, over 75% of black kids are born to single mothers. The black family is ending.

Why has this come to be. Progressive movement that tells the black man no need to go out a work

I will give you a dollar not to work just vote for me. the same man that was yelling I will never be out

***@# again. LBJ

Kinda blows your whole world view of where "progressivism" has originated in US Politics..... doesn't it?

oh.... this is where that "introspection" thing that's been bred out of school kids like you since the 1970s would SO come in handy!!

Many things have changed since 1912, including the two parties. Republicans today think "progress" would be imposing serfdom on the majority.

That "Progressive" party has no similarity to today's progressives. If you were a real student of history this would be obvious.

progressives have their own agenda---overtake and create a New World Order. nothing is the same but WE will all suffer the actions from this...novus ordo seclorum just wait and see...do you recall the 1.7 billion bullets purchased by the US gov? It is coming.

An idea is not responsible for the people who believe it.

Teddy Roosevelt started the Progressive Party in 1912 (aka the "Bull Moose Party") in opposition to the Republican Party which was headed by Howard Taft.

The original platforms of Roosevelt's Progressive Party included:

? Strict limits and disclosure requirements on political campaign contributions

? Registration of lobbyists

? A National Health Service to include all existing government medical agencies.

? Social insurance, to provide for the elderly, the unemployed, and the disabled

? A minimum wage law for women

? A federal securities commission

? Farm relief

? Workers' compensation for work-related injuries

? A Constitutional amendment to allow a Federal income tax

Has the Republican party lurched to the right? Or do Republicans still own the Progressive Party?
