Get over it. ObamaCare is here, it is working. The biggest problem is that there are fools out there that are doing everything they can to make it fail, like the red states that refuse to participate.
All of your assumptions are lies.
The Act exceeded its signup goal. For the first time, support outweighs opposition. Even Fox News admits the Act lowers premiums.
And this is just the beginning. Every other first world country on the planet has some form of government-subsidized health insurance. Why do you think America can't do the same?
And it's not like we had a good thing going. Our healthcare system was great if you were very rich, but that is not the full measure of a healthcare system. The ability to treat the middle class and poor is much more important than the ability to treat the very rich.
Finally, the individual mandate is critical. Without it, people could just wait until they needed insurance before they bought it. However, by doing this these people are getting a free ride on the backs of responsible Americans who have chosen to insure themselves against the injury and illness we ALL must face at some point in our lives.
Who's waiting 6 months for an appointment, or waiting 4 hours? Where is it, a one-horse town with one doctor up in Alaska?
None of that happened. If you have to wait even more than a hour, that's the doctor's staff fault. There is nothing in the law that says doctors must take on more patients than they can handle.
But because of the increase in potential patients, it will mean an increase in the medical profession as a whole. In the past several months, my wife and I were able to see our doctors within minutes of the appt. time. Surgery and other procedures scheduled and performed within a week or two.
The same solution we've wanted all along.
Not the gifts to private insurance companies that every conservative holding office was for before they were against.... that we have in place now.
EDIT: As an aside --- "and the liberals will gloss over the need to BUY the existing insurance operations and pay CASH for them" is the dumbest thing I've heard stated all day.
Does Spock think that the U.S government had to BUY every adding machine and typewriter company in the nation when THOSE became obsolete?
The PPACA has provided benefits to tens of millions of Americans and conservatives, just like you, hate that.
oh, the liberal solution is single payer and everyone who is physically present in the country gets the same free service.
of course, to pay for it, they're going to be forced to raise taxes on "the rich". look for a combination of higher income tax rates plus a punitive estate tax on net estate valuations in excess of $5 million [I'm thinking 75% of the excess net estate to the government].
and the liberals will gloss over the need to BUY the existing insurance operations and pay CASH for them -- it's only about $500 billion by my estimate -- which I'm sure they can raise via a one time surtax on capital gains of 50% (effective from enactment until the $500 billion plus interest is repaid).
rather naturally, the resulting immobility of capital and desire by everyone to avoid paying will damage the economy, reduce output, and kill economic growth, plus job creation. but it's a small price to pay for jerking America into the modern age of government handouts.
Write your fantasy anyway you choose.
Growing pains are not a failure.
After 5 years of Obamacare it turns out that the conservatives are right. We still have about 30 million uninsured. On average people are having to wait about 6 months to see a doctor. On average they are waiting about 4 hours in the doctor's office. For most people the soonest you can get any medical procedure done is 3 months even if you needed sooner or you will die. Only the rich have access to the top doctors and medical facilities and Obamacare is adding about 200 billion to the national debt each year
