Yes. If I were Ukranian I would choose the European Union over Russia. However I don't agree with the protestors turning to violence in order to achieve their goals but I guess the great majority of the violence came from the authorities.

Human rights were violated when the parties battled in the streets. AK-47 on the one side against tear gas and shields on the other. The drama of the situation was over shadowed by the violence on both sides. fortunately both sides were able to come to a truce thanks to the threat of U.N. sanctions.

Having the government ignore what the people want I would say yes.
