How to get recycled news paper?

Hit up your local coffee shops.

Most have a bin for used newspapers and also will give you coffee grounds.

It may be BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket)

Worms seem to like a mix of newspaper and coffee grounds.

If you go to a place that serves food, you may even get some egg shells, old bread and veggy trimmings.

The recycled paper makes it way back to the paper mill. At the mill there is a big "blender" that is built in the floor where they take a bale of recycled paper and put it in. In the "blender" they add chemical to help to break down the paper and to remove the ink. There it is pumped to the paper machine and there it is sprayed on this felt belt. It runs on the felt belt for a distance and then the paper is separated to go though the dryers. The dryers are around 3 story tall and the paper goes up and down up and down in this dryer in one continuous sheet. At the end the paper is wound on a roll that is 10' wide. After the roll get full, the machine will automatically cut the sheet to start the next roll. The paper machine runs continous. If the paper breaks in the dryer they use the term "making hay".

The finished roll is not finished yet. It will go to a slitter/rewinder. There it unrolled into a machine that slits the paper down and rewound into rolls to the size that the customer wants.

Some of the corragated mill will have a corragator that will turn the paper back into boxes.

The other customers are called converters. They convert the rolls of paper into a finished product. Newspapers, books, copier paper, picture frames backs, components for Ready To Assemble furniture(RTA), Point of purchase displays..........

Each mill will specialize in a certain paper grade. One will make paper for books, one will be for chip board (furniture backs, picture frame backs)

The link will tell you how to make paper at home. It is the same process that the mills use, but on a very small scale.

If all else fails, put an ad on Craigslist. Lots of people will be willing to save you a week's worth of papers if you ask nicely and come pick them up. If the recycling plant is willing to give you newspaper, it will likely be a LARGE bundle, I would think.

I hear egg cartons work well too.

OMG tell me you are smarter than the worms Call a local recycling center and ask them

They have free papers in almost every areas that are on newspaper..

Hi, I live in Phoenix Arizona and have recently started vermicomposting(composting with worms) and would like to get some news paper for it but don't get the news paper. Is there any way i can get it from a recycling plant or somewhere?
