How expensive is hamster energy?

This depend a lot on the technical specifications for your hamster generator.

Age, size and health of each hamster would effect how much energy the little fellows could produce.

Size of the wheels they run on, or and the gearing to your generator.

How much time a hamster spends on a wheel per day. (would you force slave labour on the hamsters or allow for a more ad hock, run when you want to, relaxed approach to their duties). You may need to see an anti cruelty to animals organisation for more info.

Cost of hamster upkeep, such as food, bedding etc. Would you bye in the food or produce it yourself.

Vetting costs for all the hamsters.

Do the hamsters get maternity leave, holidays etc and would you need a number of temps for this purpose yourself?

Are there any other beasts that could do the job better?

Why not look into growing muscle tissue to replace a living animal, and the wheel for some kind of piston?

I think you will need to do some tests on some individual hamster to answer many of these questions. Good luck.

With the energy crisis looming, today's Caturday video smile focuses on hamster power. You know, those small fuzzy rodents that adults get for their kids as pets. But hamsters are more than pets, they are research subjects and research collaborators, testing nanotechnology designed to capture mechanical "bioenergy" produced by living things as they .. well, live.

There are several species of hamsters that are kept as pets. The golden hamster, Mesocricetus auratus, is probably the most popular of the hamster species that are kept as pets. They are the largest of the pet hamsters and also, according to my experience, the most temperamental. However, the dwarf hamsters, Phodopus species, which are amongst the smallest mammals on earth, are becoming increasingly popular pets. All three dwarf hamster species are commonly kept as pets in North America and Europe; Campbell's Russian dwarf hamster, P. campbelli, a species that is often mistaken for its sister species, the Djungarian dwarf hamster, P. sungorus, and Roborovski's desert dwarf hamster, P. roborovskii, which is the smallest of the three dwarf hamsters. Of the three dwarf hamster species, the "Robos" are reputed to be the most athletic, running, on average, the equivalent of four human marathons every night, according to BBC research.

You will need about 1000 hamsters to run a house.

Have you considered saving the hamster poo, putting it in a compost pile and trapping the methane gas to use for heat in the winter.

oh yes of course, maybe 100 more hamsters though.

my house runs on hamster energy alone, and i have about 300 hamsters.

they do give off more energy if you light them on fire.

here is an elf poem.

Elf-man

The short little man,

wearing funny shades of blue,

tripped over a stone.

I've been thinking of changing my energy over to hamster energy. I've got a spare room where I can place several hamster wheels, and the hamsters of course. How much power will 50 hamsters generate per hour while running on the wheels?

Will it supply enough electricity for my house and will it be a very cheap method of energy?
