My dad won't buy me a car because he says that I have to learn but I just said to my self "Well if he's not gonna buy me a used car to be a more independent and productive person, well I'll just buy my own damn car!"

yeah buy your car. It teaches you that if you want something you need to work for it. If you are over 18 I suggest you move to north dakota like i did and i made $70k last year. If not then you can still affird a car. I suggest not spending less than $5000 as you dont want a car that breaks down constantly. For liability coverage only will run you about $100 a month as youngster if you look around and gas which depended but at least another $60-150 a month depending on mpg and price of gas and how much you drive. Dont forget to change your oil which is about $20 4x a year. Owning a car costs about $1500-$2500 a year depending on many many factors.

If I know parents, that's probably exactly the answer he wants to hear. Any part time job, provided you work as many hours as you can get, should get you there in about 2 years. Plus, you can also get a decent used car for around 10,000.

That's nice. Consider also the costs of car ownership. Insurance is expensive, especially for younger drivers. Maintenance costs can be high on older cars, less on newer. Gas prices fluctuate a lot.

Get a car when you can afford all of it. Average car ownership costs are around $8000/yr for a new average priced car when you add it all up.

get a job and earn it
