Best renewable energy source for the UK?

It depends on the scale. If you live in a houseboat then solar plus wind, backed up with a diesel generator, is sensible. For new build properties, solar tiles and solar glass are becoming interesting. Wind power is impractical at a national scale and is only expanding because of the huge subsidies. Hydro is good but with limited capacity. Wave and tidal have great potential but need a lot of investment/research. The only sensible way to provide large-scale, low carbon electricity is nuclear.

Resources

We’ve built up a fantastic library of resources as we have travelled along the green road. We’ve come across a load of great web sites, and we’ve found many fabulous articles, along with the ones that we have written on the subject.

All in all, we feel that there is no other resource that gives you access to so much. So please feel free to enjoy the myriad of articles etc, during your stay at Wikaniko.

Nuclear.

It is reliable, produces the amount of power we need when we need it, does not involve tearing up our precious countryside and for those who worry about it does not produce CO2.

none cos it isnt effective enough

I would stick with nuclear

What would you say is the best renewable source for the UK?

Could you also please explain your answers (more than one answer is fine).

This is for a project as part of my research. I need to make a short movie explaining what i think the best source is for the UK after having researched so any ideas for the movie would be great too!

Thanks!
