It really makes no difference to the recycling place, they'll just melt it down anyway.
The other cans are steel, not aluminum, they can be recycled, but not as cost-effectively.
What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead? Neither, they both weigh a pound. Crushed cans take up less space so you can get more into the same space. Crush them. Not corn and bean cans, they are recyclable, but not as aluminum. Also, pull off the tabs and save them seperately because they have a higher aluminum content.
BTW ... if your boyfriend thinks crushed cans weigh more I would advise not having kids with him. They might be retarded.
The weight of a can does not change when you crush it, it just takes up less space. Cans that corn, beans and the like come it may or may not be aluminum, use a magnet to see what they are.
If you are turning them in by the pound .You can fit more into your containers if you crush them. The vegetable and fruit cans are steel. How ever if you are returning them for the deposit I think you can skip the work of flatting the cans.
u sir are an idiot. why would a can weigh more crushed. go read a book and do something with your life....except repeatedly fail preschool.
I was going to take all these cans and recyle them but before I do I just want to make sure im getting the most out of it. My boyfriend thinks if they are crushed theyll weigh more I think if theyre whole they will pay more so I don't know. Oh and the cans that fruit and beans and corn come in are those aluminum also?
