What the heck is this packing material?

Cellulose? Or perhaps a mountain man's beard.

It looks like carpet fuzz.Definitely chemical in nature & inexpensive to use. Save it to pack Xmas gifts in if you are mailing any to friends or relatives.Add a note saying you now save all of your shaved off body hair & use it for packing material.I can hear the screams from here !

Where did the package come from? Coconut fiber has been suggested as an organic packing alternative in some places.

It may be excelsior, or wood wool (wiki under the last for a picture). "Wood wool, known primarily as excelsior in North America,[1] is a product made of wood slivers cut from logs and is mainly used in packaging..."

It sounds like shredded heavy brown paper (what they used to make grocery bags out of - before plastic), or shredded cardboard.

lol

marijuana.

I got a package from an ebay purchase and instead of peanuts, it's packed in what I swear looks like some mountain man just shaved his brown beard off. Has anyone seen this packing material before?
