Where to find scrap metal to sell?

Check the free section on Craigslist. You often find free scrap stuff there. You should be aware that some metals bring very little money per pound. If you are going to scrap steel for instance you are going to need a lot of it to make money. Keep in mind you have to spend gas money to go get stuff.

Selling scrap metals can help you earn good money, if you invest enough time into it. It’s common practice to rummage through other people’s garbage and find anything that can be of some value at a scrap yard. Scrap yards are more than willing to accept scrap in bulk as compared to small amounts of scrap because they stand to profit more from it; and eventually so do you. I usually go down to the SIMS recycling facility to sell ferrous metal because I believe they’re pretty reasonable. Check out their website if you wish.

You can find scrap metal in many different place, cleaning out a garage or shed. In dumpsters, on the side of the street, local construction jobs, and many more places. You should always be sure to ask for permission to take metal from private property. You can always advertise your scrap pick up services to your community too, to help them recycle your metals. You can find a lot of information about getting started and where to find metal on our blog and YouTube page.

Garage sales and alleys are a great place to find all kinds of metals like copper and steel.
