What can we do to make a difference?

Visit a government meeting in your town or city.

How can you make a difference when you make a statement "religion is b eing used to blind the masses". ? Those personal feelings, in itself, will not make a difference in the world. We should be tolerant of anyone's personal beliefs whether or not we agree or not. So, if you start off from the onset with your "personal point of view", you have now put yourself in the same category as everyone else and you will never make a difference to the world.

We may not like what we see in the world. We cannot change the world because we are only ONE person. The only thing we can do is change ourselves. We live life by example not by words. We are not super powers...we are only one little human being on the face of this earth.

I also have been studying up on religion and government mainly. I've been caught up in the same question, I want to make a difference, and I want to see change, but the problem is, basically what you stated, either people don't care, are blinded, or my personal favorite, people LISTEN TO, AND TRUST THE GOVERNMENT. I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I never received the opportunity to grow up in the roaring twenties, or witness the great growth and stimulating 50's. I've grown up in recession, bailouts, war, and poverty. To say the least, I'm pissed. I want to see America for what it was founded for, Liberty and Freedom. Idk if people are like you say, blinded, or what the problem is, but there is definitely a problem. I feel like were headed toward a totalitarian-like government state, or at least a socialistic government. If people don't wake up, open their eyes and do something to preserve what little we have left of our rights and freedoms, I feel like we are definitely doomed.

I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and you troll Y!A. I wonder which one of us is making a positive difference.

Lately I've been watching a lot of documentaries and doing some research on government, society, environment, religion, etc. - and I've just confirmed for myself just how much the world is falling apart before everyone's eyes. I know this isn't much of a revelation in itself, but what can be done? What can I do? I'm not talking about soup kitchen, feel good charity to make amends with my own well being - but for the good of our planet and the life on it. There is enough food in America to feed the whole starving world yet we're literally gorging ourselves to death, religion is being used to blind the masses, our environment is being obliterated, our education system's main goal is to condition a productive workforce and don't even get me started on our government... And the worst part is so many people have no clue, nor care to know how bad it really is. I feel so helpless, like it's too late to fix any of this - but at the same time I feel obligated because I have at least a shallow awareness of it. Where do I begin?
