My opinion: There's such a variety of clothing around, that whether a certain shirt is still "in style" isn't very important. If Macy's is offering them, they can't be too bad. Few people are going to think, "That guy's wearing old clothes." Now if it were a Nehru jacket … you'd have to claim you're deliberately dressing "retro". Advantages: Epaulets can keep camera straps in place. Disadvantages: Epaulets may need to be ironed after the shirt is washed, to get them flat again.
