I have a orange Jcrew 100% cotton dress that I tried to dye darker with dylon dye. It's still the same. Is there something in the dress that prevents more dye?

How dare it! Get a rolling pin, and give it a good bashing- that'll learn it! Did you apply a mordant? I think you are supposed to add Salt or Alum to the water when you want to dye something. Also, your water is supposed to be hot.
