Why does my filtered water smell bad?

The black flecks are charcoal. You are supposed to let a new filter run to eliminate small pieces.

If the water smells like eggs, there is sulfur in it. You did not mention a brand of filter. You probably need a report on the water coming out of the tap. The filtered water should not have residual sulfur.

sulfur in the water means you have bacteria growing somewhere in the plumbing system.

drinking it won't hurt you but drinking too much of it will give you diarrhea.

since it's just your filtered water that is having the issue then it's probably a problem with the filter. change your filter. you should change your filter every 6 months.

if you have one of those Britta or Pur filter attachments on your faucet, you may want take it apart & clean it well before you change the filter.

I would get a new filter for your faucet.. do not drink the water that comes from it. It could be contaminated

My regular tap water dosent smell bad, but we have a faucet for drinking water that has been filtered. The water smells like eggs. I dont understand why filtering it would cause it to smell? Also theres little black flecks in it

is it safe to drink?

thanks
