Wood. Florida is so hot and there's so much debris you'll die trying to vacuum or sweep a carpet every day. Also if there's a hurricane or flood, you'll have a hard time. With wood all you need is a swifter and good home insurance if you're buying and not renting.

Wood is not good for high humidity. Use ceramic tile or wood look linoleum. Both are very durable and can even with stand flooding.

Get whichever you want, either can work fine, or be ruined depending on the local conditions, and your own preferences.

Me, I prefer wood, but there are times you want carpet, or even tile.
