Estate Sales usually occur when the owner of the house has died or is moving somewhere where they must significantly downsize their possessions (like a nursing home). This means that the person is probably older and has lots of old pictures and other antique/vintage items. Estate Sales also are a great place to snag item(s) on a budget because the previous owner or their family/friends are trying to get rid of everything in the house fast.
Storage Unit Auctions also almost always have old photo albums and other family relics or documents stored away and forgotten in them but these types of sales often will cost you a bit more money since you are buying the entire unit - but a lot of people actually make back their money (and often much more!) by reselling what they find in the units.

Hi I want to buy old photos. I go vintage shopping for old black and white photos, and anything before 1995, I was told by a few venders who sell photos that they buy these photos from the deceased homes. Or sometimes they get information when a homeowner is selling their house and decide to sell their belongings on the street...they sell their photos of old family members. some say they get them from auctions.
I have been searching how I can find out about these people who are selling their old photos and auctions who sell as well.... but I can't seem to find any of the resources.
(I don't want to by from vintage shops because they are expensive.. I want to cut out the middle man and buy them in bulk like many vintage sellers do...)
Any advice?
