I recently purchased a purple freshwater pearl necklace at a great price. The color isn't quite the shade I'd like and only recently discovered that pearls can be dyed right at home. I'd love for the pearls to be more of a blue-violet color. Is it possible to still dye the pearls even though they're already purple?
Also, what is the best dye for pearls? I know there's Rit, but Rit doesn't have a cobalt blue dye, which is the shade I'd like to use along with a violet dye. Procion, however, does have a cobalt blue shade. Would Procion be a suitable dye for pearls or could that be damaging?
