Why don't people use renewable sources in their homes?

Capital cost, mostly. Where the cost is low and the payoff is quick, renewable souces are more easily adopted. In my last house, I paid off the cost of a wood stove and two chain saws in about three years. Granted, I hooked up with a couple of landscapers who would provide me with the trees they cut in my neighborhood. They saved hauling costs and tipping feed and I got free fuel. The landfills lasted longer too.

I guess it is because the technology is still too expensive for most people without being subsidized by their respective governments. And well lets face it, some countries, especially the developing ones, would have a hard time allocating funds for that.

Because the technology is either too expensive to justify the cost, or its not effective.

50% of all electrical power generated in illinois is nuclear. that,s definitely renewable.

They don't because it is too expensive, and a lot of people just don't care.

They are not cost effective!
