Some members of Congress did not want poor people to have access to healthcare or health insurance and they were willing to shut down the government to stop it from happening.
The Government shut down because the House Republicans would not approve a budget unless Obamacare was stopped. Without budget approval, some programs cannot continue without funding. Repubs are holding the budget hostage at the sake of the American public and children needing health care. Obamacare has already been funded and the House has tried to stop Obamacare over 40 times--enough is enough. They also voted not to fund food stamps for pregnant women, our honorable veterans, and our disabled citizens if there was a shut down. How cold and callous can they be? This is the worse Congress ever and term limits and voting them out of office is looking better and better.
It didn't shut down. A lot of unnecessary workers will be sent home, because this administration just spends too much money on nonsense. It has become a political football, and Obama will say repubs are causing damage. But look at the damage his policies have done.
I have a write a paper on it and I'm not fully understanding the whole concept of WHY it did shut down.
