You must have money to burn, they are inefficient expensive,and far and away exceed the green build cost of traditional cars,that is why they have not, nor ever will catch on.

10 mile trip? How about an electric bicycle? Cheaper than a car, and very inexpensive to operate. At home, you could still have panels on the house to supplement the house electricity, but that would be a separate deal from the bike.

why not just ride a normal bike?

So I'm getting a vehicle soon (16) and I want something solar powered! Like putting solar panels in my back yard and charging the vehicle when I get home.. Or having panels on the vehicle and let it bask while I'm at home and drive home... Are there any vehicles out there like a motorcycle or small car or even a semi truck with trailer covered in panels that I can buy? I just want to drive like 10 miles to school and back.
