Is there a way to get free electricity?

Free? No. In any case, you'll need to invest (quite a bit) of money in the setup. And usually getting connected to the grid and getting electricity from the grid is _much_ cheaper, unless you live in a really remote location.

If you still want to go ahead - it all depends on how much electricity you need for what (and when). If you're in the US, using your self-generated electricity for heating or cooling your house through an AC is just about the worst idea you can have.

Next is that any kind of 'environmental' generator (solar, wind, water) will be highly dependend on a cooperative environment - a solar generator won't work while the sun doesn't shine, a wind turbine won't work when there's too little or too much wind, a water wheel won't work when the water level's too low or too high. So you'll either need (expensive) electricity storage - or backup solution. Which is better in your case again depends on what you need and when.

If you think about going off-grid, it might be a good idea to start with reducing your electricity consumption.

You can get it from the sunlight. Also, you can scrounge around the junkyards & get an alternator (or 2-3) and generate juice from the wind & also you could hook up to a bike (rear wheel off ground) and.. spin up a little.. to charge your batteries. Use an inverter to convert to 110 volts.

Get a bicycle attached to a generator. Get on the bike, and put a twinkie on a pole just out of reach. Start pedaling.

If you were in a secret society you would know an blank and an blank makes unlimited source!

But you would be killed because money will decrease where 70% of money goes!

Go outside during a thunderstorm and hold a long metal pole over your head

Yes! Of course there is. Simply activate your perpetual motion machine (you do have one, I assume).

Using batteries or solar panel..

NI I DONT THINK SO.

By generating your own...... I've considered looking into building a custom generator but I'm not really sure how long one would last. I also looked into wind turbines but I can't seem to find much information on how they work and it looks like the cost for an affordable one is around $700.

I know someone might ask "If there was a way don't you think everyone would be doing it?" and my answer is no. It's a lazy world out there.
