I can't see that on the big scale of things a spoonful of ash is going to make any difference to the woods. Aren't you worried about process used to create a ziplock bag and it's disposal?

If the ash is FROM smoking and cool enough to put in a plastic bag, then it will do no great harm. If the ash is STILL smoking, dumping it will be a fire hazard. Watch how you phrase your question; it took me two readings to determine what you meant. What can I tell you? I'm slow.

I am an avid camper and pipe smoker, and I greatly enjoy doing both simultaneously. Being environmentally cautious, I have always dumped my ash from the bowl into a ziplock instead of in the woods. Is this necessary is it alright to dump the stuff in the woods? Is it any different from leaving campfire ash lying around?
