You need to learn about economics, about the time value of money, there is no free. A solar photovoltic panel does not produce free power because you had to buy the panel in the first place and it has both a finite life and a probability of failure. In 2007, solar power costs 38 cents a kwh while coal power was 0.6 cents per kwh.
