Rocks have a much greater density and require very expensive pieces of heavy machinery to recycle.
Rock recycling in an energy intensive business. A typical rock crusher weighs 45 tons and uses $1,450.00 worth of electricity per hour. In the end, all you have is a pile of sand worth about $15.00 per cubic yard.
Plastic is very light and is easily shredded. Once shredded, it is then ground into power and spun onto polartek fleece fabric. Polartec fabric is used to make "flying squirrel suits" like the one Jay Leno owns. They are very, very popular.
How or why do you think humans need to recycle rocks?
Rocks are an entirely natural thing and they are not consumed or used in any way and are certainly not made by humans. Over millions of years, the earth itself in effect, recycles rocks with plate tectonics.
So I ask you again just what the heck you think you are talking about?
Plastics are made from petroleum, mostly from natural gas and hence they are a store of hydrocarbons that have been sequestered by nature from our environment for millions of years. Plastics essentially sequesters these hydrocarbons again and therefore disposing of them in a landfill actually helps our environment. Of course, there are many so called environmentalists that want to reduce the use of plastics or have biodegradable plastics thereby releasing the hydrocarbons into the atmosphere as CO2 and H2O thereby harming the environment all in the name of being environmentally friendly.
Right know I am thinking how humans could be SO stupid I thought were meant to be the cleverest Mammal
