How do walking conserve energy?

Walking – it’s the greenest, not to mention cheapest, method of travel.

It’s something most of us could fit more of into our lifestyles. Driving a car on unnecessary journeys is bad for the environment but something that nearly half of us have owned up to doing.

However the environmental benefits of walking provide a compelling argument for doing more of it. The only fuel you need to walk is food and drink. Cars, on the other hand, are expensive and inefficient in their fuel consumption. You can reduce your carbon footprint massively by walking shorter journeys instead of driving. You’ll also save on petrol costs.

Surely, walking doesn't "conserve energy", since for execute any movement you must spend energy. What really happens is that you spend just your body energy and avoid fossil fuel burning, or other kind of energy consumption.

The beauty of walking is that the only mass being transported are yourself and your clothes, no energy is used on moving a 2 ton steel structure around.

By walking you are not burning any petrol, diesel etc - you do use a fair amount of your own energy, however and this is very good for your personal wellbeing.

Well since the walking person is not in a car he/she is not burning up fossil fuels or using the cars battery.

to walk is to perform motion,& u must b knowing that for motion energy is essential.right
