How can I discipline myself to save money better?

After I pay all of my bills every month, I'm left with only $250.00 to $300.00 for gas and groceries for the month. I can never have enough to buy what I really want. What's a good money-saving strategy I can try.

Saving money is only good if you are planning to use it to pull an asset that will sort another source of income out for you. If you refuse but look out for such opportunity what happens is you had less expense at the start of every year, you will be having a much higher expense as you add another 365 days, your duty will be to add an asset that raises your income source accordingly. for recommendation get a copy of this book at www.makemoneywhileunemployed.com it helps, its what you can use to learn how to create an asset while you are working

being left with $250-300 is a lot and you should be eating on perhaps $100 a month, and well frankly, the cost of gas is down but even before that I only drive 1,000 miles a year and pay $10 in gas a month. Idk, maybe your job is far from home or maybe you just do a lot of running around with your car, so stop running around in your car, buy your groceries once a month and don't buy more. Don't buy at restaurants, wear your clothes for 10 years so when you buy buy inexpensively but good clothes. I suspect you also have a cellphone which you could ditch, and also probably have high cost internet, have cable, and are trying to keep up with your neighbors or peers. You didn't say what your bills are, didn't say if you're in an apartment or at home paying rent. We can't help unless you open up your question with details.

Well you can do a few things ... first, you must track all your expenses to understand where you are spending your money ... precisely.

There are many ways to save money on the normal monthly expenses, which will put money in your pocket.

Just one example ... a Fuel Rewards card at Shell will save you 3 cents p/gallon automatically. If you also pay for gas with a credit card like Discover or cash back card, you'll save even more. That's money in your pocket which is just going out the door at the moment.

Turning your thermostat down to 62 degrees at night (if you live in a cold climate) and limiting it to 68 degrees will save hundreds of dollars per year. Again, those savings are going right out of your wallet now.

Using coupons more, etc. the same thing.

You can also set up a savings account, and set up an automatic transfer of money each month from your checking account.

You haven't really provide enough detail but there are many ways to save money.

The way to save cash is find ways to spend less and get more groceries each month, then carry forward savings from each month to the next month, in that way your savings will accumulate until you get to the end of the year with a good bank balance. You only run short if you save, then spend all the savings !

Make a detailed budget first. Then eliminate some of your bills since 300/mo is not enough for groceries and gas (at least around here). Possible reductions are your cell bill, cable bill, reduce utilities, no eating out, etc.

waste 30$ on gas

100$ on food if you like eating out

use less energy and less water as much as possibly

Don't waste so much money on makeup

and the way to discipline yourself is to think of how good you well look in that dress etc

and that should leave you with i think 150$ to yourself

Try opening un a savings account that automatically takes money from your checking account each month. Start with as little as $25 per PAY PERIOD.

What are " all of my bills "? credit cards ? loans ? If so, start there.

Then there is that $2 cup of coffee, fast food drive ins, What do you spend your $ on ?

How much are you Credit card payments each month ? is that where your $ are going ?

Do you just have too many bills to pay ? if so, then you need to pay them off and not make new ones to have to pay.

" Because they manipulate and manipulation is a form of deceit and lying." very uninformed answer. No wonder you have ask how to stop spending all your money. Maybe you really are just a dumb Blonde. haha.:)

i sort of in the same boat so i would say put a side some of what you make for saving and rainy day. and decide what you can do without. maybe try to carpool every now and then with someone you know. you could try the envelope budget method a try what ever you do wish you luck

You have an income problem, don't bother worrying about saving yet. Unless you are living somewhere that you cannot afford or are gambling/drinking it all away. Then you definitely have a spending problem.
