Where are these woods, and do you own the land? Does the installation only need to be in one spot, or must it be portable?
If it must be portable, I think you need to carry batteries or a fuel cell.
Personally, I would not consider building a tall structure in the woods just to get power. If I was building a cabin, I'd find a natural clearing, or make one. I've seen a cabin in the redwoods of coastal northern California with solar. It only got a few hours of direct sun a day, but at least it did get direct sun. The owners just settled for what they got from their solar array.
The woods themselves are like a giant solar collector. Could you burn downed wood to power a steam-engine electric generator?
Solar is the only thing that i think will work. So i would suggest you get a portable solar panel that you can get off eBay.
Well, first off... "Solar" will only work in the daytime so you shouldn't need the light bulb.
You'll need a solar panel with 12vdc output, a car battery, and a 12v LED light.
I wan to create electricity in the middle of the woods to power a light for 8 hours a day. How can I do this? I want to get a solar panel and then put it far up on top of the trees so it would get direct sunlight. Then I want to have the energy going down to the ground and powering a light. How many solar panels would I need, how much would it cost, and would this even be possible? Would I need anything else like a battery or inverter? Please give as much information as possible!
