Using the formula you can say that gravitational potential energy depends on the force of gravity, mass, and distance from the impacting surface. Increase any of these variables and you increase the potential energy until the distance becomes so great that gravity no longer effects it.

Heavy man...

You have gravity acting on every object in the universe (except maybe quarks and that kind of stuff but considering you need help with this question, I don't think you even know about those sub-atomic particles).

The gravity is a force. A force can be associated with energy. Potential enery is energy not in use at the time. So the gravitation potential energy is the amount of stored energy in an object based on its location relative the another object that is exerting a net gravitationl force on it.
