Advice on a serious life decision?

Posted at: 2015-05-24
My fiance and I have a 3 year old and are both 26 almost 27, we just want a house and want to stop renting. My fiance just got a new job he will be going from 11$ to 20$ an hour which is such a big break for us. My fiance wants to move from our 900$ a month townhouse and find a crappy 1 or 2 bedroom apartment to stick it out for 6-7 to 1 year and just live very cheap to save money for a down payment on a house. I am scared to go from a big townhouse to a tiny apartment I am worried this will affect our daughter. We have calculated everything and the plan seems solid, we absolutely could save enough money I'm just not sure if this plan is right for us. What do you think? Do you think it can be done? Or is this rhe the dumbest idea ever? We have 1 month to decide since we just paid rent.

Hardly a serious life decision. Seems your fiance has a genuine resonable plan. No 3 year old child is going to be affected by moving into a smaller home. You're overreacting.

It sounds like a very reasonable plan. It means that you can save up enough money for a down payment on a house.

Children do not need a lot of room. Why do you think it will affect your daughter? What would happen if living in a small apartment was not a choice? It sounds like YOU do not want to make the sacrifice and are blaming it on your daughter.

Good plan. Whats wrong with it? Why would a toddler be affected by a smaller house? Odd reasoning. As long as she has her own bed, go for it.

Change is always scary. Congrats on the new job. Work hard and everything will be fine. I've heard some really dumb ideas, and this is definitely not even close to them.

You 3 year old won't care. Sounds like you will though.

As long as your child has a decent place to sleep go for it.
