The first and best reason that came to mind is that Australia has a lot of uninhabited and undeveloped desert habitat where wind farms would be perfect.
There is a time difference between Australia and Western Europe.
Right now for example, it is 15:03 14/07/2013 in the UK
In Canberra however, it is 00:06 15/072003
There may be other reasons but that is the main one.
They have a lot of unused land
