A black tie would be boring. Ask her if you could spice it up with a shiny gold or red tie.

You can find very nice models with lace if you want something different and elegant

I would wear a white shirt if you have to wear a black tie.

I think you should ask her if you can wear like a white or a blue tie but if she says no I think a black tie would be fine.
