I am making a diy bikini top out of a bandana, and its really cute.. So, could i use a hot glue guy to glue the straps on? I would need to glue the back and the straps on my chest. Will it be waterproof? I don't want my top to come off in the water...I am making a diy bikini top out of a bandana, and its really cute.. So, could i use a hot glue guy to glue the straps on? No, don't use a glue gun the hot glue isn't strong enough for clothing -plus some glue lose all strength in cold water. And iron-on seam glue isn't good enough either. For something that needs to stay together you need to get out a simple hand sewing needle and a spool of thread and sew the bikini top together and make sure the ends of the threads are well knotted. Choose a thread the same color as the most noticeable on your bandanna and sew it down securely using a back stitch worked over and over in the same spot. When you think the strap is secure and won't fall off knit the thread several time close to the fabric and cut off the thread tail. Here are several websites with hand sewing lessons: And you can print these pages at home and keep them for anytime you need to hand sew something
