I recently purchased this shower head after looking at many different products at a range of prices. I installed it yesterday, have had no regrets and would highly recommend it. The second function actually provides a significant increase in water pressure from the shower head.
Also, yes you can remove the flow limiter if you need. There's a small washer surrounded by a green colored ring. You can use a paper clip and tweezers to pop it out. We have good water pressure in a Manhattan building that has a water tank on top and I ended up putting the washer back as my wife thought there was too much water.
