I'm not sure where you're wanting to put a blanket down. On the roof of the house? Anyway, the spiders; You can have a pest control company come out and do whats called a "powerspray" around the property and dust the attic.
The roof is flat and always in the direct sunshine so it is very very clean. The tiles are made mostly of cement and seem to be evenly eroded.
I would like to put a blanket down for the kids to play on but I'm afraid that the spiders will cowl up on it and then maybe bite one of them.
