Is it safe to sand the glue under linoleum flooring? should I be concerned about asbestos?

Was the linoleum in sheet form or in piece form. In my experience sheet linoleum is usually not asbetos and they dont use asbetos glue to install it. If your linoleum was in piece form such as 9x9 tiles with black glue more times than not it is asbetos. You can do some investigating such as when the linoleum was put down or when your home was built. This will also help you to safely determine if it is possibly asbetos. All inventories of asbetos tile were cleared by the year 1984. If your home was built after that you can safely assume it is not asbetos.

I recently pulled up carpet to find linoleum above my hardwood. I pulled off the linoleum but was then hit with the asbestos questions.. which I knew nothing about. I don't have the money to hire someone to test for asbestos. Is it safe to sand this off so I can restain my wood floors if necessary, without concerns of asbestos? Idk what to do.
