How do I convince my dad to knock down a wall?

Well if it is a load bearing wall a beam(girder) will be needed to carry the weight that the wall was intended to carry. So yes it's absolutely possible to remove almost any wall you want to as long as you know what your doing. However it's not at all as easy as you probably think it is. When you remove a wall with drywall you leave a huge hole in the wall wherever that wall makes contact with another wall which would require drywall replacement and finishing. Also the flooring would need to be repaired where it makes contact with the floor.

So if your dad doesn't know how to do that than it would be rather expensive to get it done...plus it would need painting on the ceilings and walls and if there is electric well that needs fixed to...my only suggestion would be to save money cover the cost or learn how to do it...also the house is worth more the more bedrooms it has....so not sure how your going to convince your dad

sure, the wall needs to be checked to see if it can even be torn out in the first place. if it is a supporting wall for an upper section of the house, it cannot be removed. even then, for the average person, you have plenty of space. most people grew up with a twin bed and one dresser and maybe a table and a lamp so feel lucky to have what you have.

You need to get rid of some stuff then.

You have plenty of space.

Why do you even need a queen sized bed?

QUEEN SIZE bed two night stand book shelf dresser STOP BEING A SPOIL BRAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Ok, so I've had the same bedroom ever since I was 4 years old. It's not very big, but it's been manageable. But as time goes by and I get older I start to use up more and more space (a bigger bed, a dresser, more books, ect.). My bedroom currently hold a queen sized bed, 2 night stands, a small 3 shelf bookcase, and a dresser and I have just enough room to walk around. Now however, my bookshelf is full, the closest can hold no more, and now that I'm getting even more clothes, I'm out of space. There is a room that is exactly the same size next to my bedroom that we use as the spare room that we hardly ever use. I want to knock down a 4 by 9 foot section of wall to combine the rooms and gain more space. My mom is okay with the idea, but my dad will have none of it. He doesn't want to do it because he thinks I have plenty of space and because he doesn't want to alter the house like that. I've been able to convince my parents about a lot of things before but I don't know if I can pull off something this big. Any ideas???
