Garbage maggots question?

The maggots are NOT a problem, the FLIES which will hatch from them are.

Hose out the container with a strong spray of water (away from the house, please) -

In future place the container for garbage in a garage OR make sure that you have a tight fitting cover on it -

This way the flies cannot crawl in, lay eggs, which turn out to become maggots -

If you have maggots crawling up your housewalls, hose the walls down also -

This should be the end of the problem.

Good luck

maggots are what house flies come from. They eat meat. No more meat, they disappear.

To prevent just make sure leftovers are in an air tight container/bag and placed in a garbage receptacle that has a lid that is tight and securable.

they can crawl into your home yes

especially if there is any meat/flesh in a bin

they will only live for a few days and then hatch into flies

water will not only make the active but kill them, as will heat

they slow down if cold

they wont become an infestation, as i said, they will hatch and fly

clean out all your garbage bins with hot water and bleach

and wrap meat/bones/carcass of chicken very well to stop this happeneing again

flies have laid eggs on meat for this to have happened

if you have no dogs/cats

sprinkling curry powder/turmeric on them will make them wriggle away

they dont like it

(i know all of this as i fish, using maggots)

John...

Did it become a non issue as suggested? Meaning did they turn into flies and not create an infestation? Just curious as I have the same exact issue now. Freaking out! lol

A garbage bin that was up against the side of my house was full of maggots and I had no idea, probably for a couple days. It rained hard tonight and for some reason the maggots came out, they were ALL over the driveway with many crawling up the garage door, the siding of the house, and even some on the side entry door.

I hosed all the maggots off and poured bleach on the ones on the ground, but some continue to climb up the sides of the house. I moved the garbage can FAR away from my house, but is there any chance these garbagr maggots can find their way into my home and cause a problem?

I'm desperate for any kinda of answer. The vast majority of them are gone away in the garbage can but there is still an annoying ammount on the driveway outsisde my door and on the sides of the house. Thank you for any help or insight.
