Building a movie theater in my house, need ideas.?

32" is a bit on the small side for a room that is dedicated to being a movie theater. But if you already have one, you could use it. I had a 30" one on my bedroom wall and could see it fine from my bed.

It could help to make a piece of paper about that size (cut and tape some notebook paper together), and stick that on your wall. Then you can see about how big it will be and plan where to put your furniture based on that.

Here is my tip: If you have any windows in there, get curtains with blackout lining. (This just makes them extra thick; the curtains can be whatever color or pattern you want.) It will keep out the sunlight, etc. in case you want to watch movies during the day and turn off the lights like you're at a movie theater.

Another thing that could be fun and fancy is to frame your TV. You can build a frame with molding, or even use an L-bracket to set a painting in front of the TV when you're not using it.

Building a movie theater in your house??

Will you adopt me?? Pleeeeeez??

Okay, you didn't say what size of room, whether you're going to take like an extra bedroom and try to change it to watch movies, or whether it's a larger size than the average bedroom.

Assuming it might be a regular bedroom, the room will then be more like a box, so then you'd have the flat panel tv on one wall and a sofa or chairs against opposit wall, generally speaking.

If you had a much larger room, say 15x25 or similar, such as long room over double garage, then you could actually add movie theater style chairs completely with cupholders and that would certainly add the "movie theater" flair to your room.

But let's go with average bedroom size, perhaps 12x14.

I think most people see now that BIGGER IS BETTER when it comes to how large a flat tv. At first, 32 inch seemed waaaay too large, but now, it seems waaaay too small.

I moved in with guy that bought a 50 inch, and it was right when NBA basketball championships started in June, and my god, it was like being on front of the court!! You see the sweat pouring down the players' faces, and you'd swear if you touched it, it'd be wet!!

So if you have an average size bedroom, then I'd suggest 42 to 50 inch tv. 50 inch might be too large, perhaps 42 to 46 inch.

You'd only be about 6-8 ft from the screen. Any larger would be overpowering. But if you're in a larger size, such as the 15 x25, then 50 inch would be great.

The large tube tv's we used to buy in the 90's were average 25 inches, so 32 would hardly be much larger than that.

You also want to add a great sound system, most specifically, with rear speakers. You don't have to spend thousands of $$ to get it. maybe couple hundred would do fine, if you stick with known brands like Pioneer or Sony. the stereo sound system will be worth it when you hear the first war movie, battle scenes or light sabers clashing in sizzling enjoyment.

Obviously you want a soft cushy seating, whether a bunch of single seat recliners or chairs, or long couch. Maybe the couch, it would allow more people to group together on the couch to enjoy the movie. Nothing nasty, but like the family with lots of kids while watching "Toy Story" or "Ice" cartoon movies.

Oh, to add to the flair of a movie theater, you can buy table top popcorn poppers in a glass case. It'll make you the neighborhood source of all the kids to come and watch movies at your place. I've seen them for sale quite cheaply for few hundred bucks. Just like what they have in real theaters, just smaller version.

And even how about a pop dispenser?? Or maybe a good sized fridge stocked with all the favorite pops, drinks and even cold candy bars!! Imagine getting your 'significant other' a frozen snickers bar during the favorite movie!! Snuggle-bunny night!!

Thanks, but what size flat screen?? and i also need ideas on how the room would look like..

What do you think of the picture below

Ok so i just bought this house, and im planning to do some updatings to it. I want to build a movie theater in one of the extra rooms i have. I need some ideas on how it should go look. And is a 32 inch flat screen tv big for watching movies,or is it too small
